The Jagua people use the natural red die of achiote to paint their
faces. Until the beginning of the last century they were known to cover
their full bodies and were thus nicknamed the "Red Skin" by other
tribes. women wear red sarong-style skirts and an open vest-like garment
made of red dyed tree fibers that they drape over their shoulders. The
bands on their arms and ankles are made from the same fibers.
