In Shinto-ism, each family or clan worshipped a god as their common
originating ancestor, and all their ancestors followed it becoming their
gods (immortal spirits). Japan has therefore countless number of Shinto-ist
gods.
Kasuga-Taisha shrine was built around 710, in which four gods had been
enshrined. One of the four gods "Ameno-Koyaneno-Mikoto" was the deity of
the Fujiwara clan, which (political power: 645-1189).
