Instead of running off to play, a young girl must stay with her
mother and attend to their shoe stand. A single tear, poised to run down
her cheek, indicates her displeasure. This girl should count herself
lucky that she is with her mom and is only a "helper" at the family
business. Forced child labor on coffee, cotton and tobacco plantations
is a rampant problem in many areas of Guatemala.
