Crossing the Altiplano desert and its Salars, Bolivia. Surprisingly,
in the midst of this dramatic desert climate we had to cross numerous
rivers. Each time Gladys removed her shoes, rolled up her pants, and
walked into the river to evaluate the depth and guide Cedric, our
driver, to the firmest section of the riverbed.
