Unlike other villages, in Santiago Chimaltenango there is little variation in the traditional huipil design. The design is dominated by red hues and lighter colored geometric patterns on the sleeves. In the foreground, a woman demonstrates a classic example of the raised coiffure, tied with a long crimson sash, that is unique to this community. |
