Most small vendors only sell a couple products. These women peddle peanuts, apples, cilantro, tomatoes and tomatillos. Either they have done well on this day or they never had much to start with. The tomatoes and apples are of low quality, perhaps the dregs of their stores.
The exquisite geometric designs woven into the shoulders and upper backs of the huipiles and the raised coiffures tied up with crimson hair bands are unique to Santiago Chimaltenango.
