Panama

 

Embera women perform a ritual dance. They follow a choreographed set of steps that mimics the movements of animals. The lead dancer pounds out a cadence on a hand drum and leads a chant that tells a story. In the background the men accompany the dance with a flute, drums and other percussion instruments.
