The Embera and Wounan people of the Darien jungle of Panama have some pronounced Asiatic features. Some believe that their ancestors migrated from the far east via Alaska all the way to the Amazon. Embera and Wounan have lived semi-nomadic lifestyles in the jungle until the last few decades. The communities in the Darien trace their origins to Pre-Columbian Amazon tribes.
