Pak Set used to be a cannibal and chief of a Baliem tribe. His village today is in the area controlled by the Indonesian army. He no longer practices many tribal rituals for fear that his people will be killed. He claims that life in his community has completely changed. They have lost the most important aspects of their culture. These days Pak Set often makes the three-day walk to the large village of Waimena where he hopes to sell a few bows and arrows to tourists and beg for tobacco before returning to his village.
